The opening evening for the 2nd UCD career mentoring programme was held in Ardmore House in UCD on Tuesday 3rd November. The programme is managed by the UCD Career Development Centre in conjunction with Alumni Relationsand the Schools of English, Drama and Film, Archaeology and History.
46 alumni from these three schools have volunteered their time to act as career mentors to 46 student mentees of the Schools for the duration of the programme due to finish in May 2016.
The Mentors work in a wide range of roles and industries including broadcast journalism, teaching, academia, writing, TV, film, radio, the performing arts, business, IT, marketing, human resources management, law, EU and government policy and advice, archaeology, tourism and heritage, and participants have been matched based on areas of career interest.
Previous student mentees noted this was an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed and that the benefits they gained included increased confidence and clarity on the career steps they needed to take.
The evening included training for the participants and a chance for mentors and mentees to meet each other. There was a fantastic buzz and everyone was very excited about the programme ahead! We hope to grow the programme further and offer to even more students.
